Fall maintenance on my adopted west section of the UNH Trail, from the trailhead to the 2532-ft. summit. It was a windy, chilly, unsettled day, with fairer weather to the east and south and fouler to the north and west. Snow had fallen on the higher peaks.
Cleaning and digging out drainages was the task for this eight-hour day. Surprisingly, there was only one blowdown - a two-cut stepover - along the 1.8 mile length of the trail.
This rock waterbar is one of the longer ones on the trail.
Fair skies looking east over Albany Intervale from Allen's Ledge.
Gloomy skies looking towards Mt. Carrigain from the north side of the summit.
Mt. Chocorua and Mt. Paugus from Hedgehog's summit.
Zoom on Chocorua.
Mt. Passaconaway and its eastern spurs loom over the Oliverian Brook valley.
Last patch of color on the lower slopes. Must have been gorgeous here a week earlier.
A dusk view from Hancock Overlook of new snow on Mt. Osecola's Dogleg Slide.
