UPPER GREELEY POND: 1/8/18

A morning snowshoe jaunt into wild and beautiful Mad River Notch with temps in the balmy teens.

Vehicle of a well-known hiker, doing the Osceolas.

Greeley Ponds Trail had a perfect snowshoe track.

The South Fork of Hancock Branch was buried.

Old yellow birches on the north side of Mad River Notch.

 Trailside snow sculpture.

Arriving at the north end of Upper Greeley Pond.

These two well-equipped adventurers were heading in to check ski conditions on one of the East Osceola slides.

Cliffs on the NE spur of East Osceola.

The K2 Cliff on the west end of Mt. Kancamagus.

Wind-packed drifts along the west shore.

Looking south along Mt. Kancamagus.

The top of East Osceola emerges briefly from the clouds.

The upper slides on East Osceola. Apparently the one on the right is the skiers' favorite.

Plenty o' snow in the woods.
