I climed black mountain more times than i can count and fondly remember the fire tower. and was sad when they took it down. The kilns look great and the old quary is still there but i think that is now private property. This place by far holds some of my happiest memories. Can't wait to visit it again - thanks for taking us on this photo journey! :)NeoAkelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06780444851250977133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-49670544995211416312010-05-07T17:15:21.618-04:002010-05-07T17:15:21.618-04:00Amy & Charlie,

And Chippewa is a good workout!

Dave,

If you cross the stream on the big log, you soon climb up to the logging road; instead of turning right on the main trail, turn left and in a couple hundred feet there is a 'KILNS' sign pointing right. Turn right on a recent skidder road and in 40 yards you'll come to the first kiln. A path leads up another 40 yards to the upper and larger kiln. (If you use the bypass path to avoid the log crossing you'll soon come out on the logging road; turn right and in a very short distance the skidder road leads left to the kilns.)

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-91377329789207145552010-05-07T07:32:19.341-04:002010-05-07T07:32:19.341-04:00Hi Steve,

Any hints on where to find them?
