I had hoped to visit the beaver ponds to the NW of your route, but ran out of time. The bushwhack route up from Rt. 25 is pretty much open woods all the way, and in summer you could probably find a good parking spot farther to the east, which would shorten the approach.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-5153351087117168962014-01-20T08:54:42.381-05:002014-01-20T08:54:42.381-05:00Thanks, Ben - Wachipauka is one of my favorites al...Thanks, Ben - Wachipauka is one of my favorites also. And Webster Slide is always neat. There appears to be a new rock slide on the south side of Webster Slide - it shows up in the latest Google Earth image from 9/19/13.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-17616474934150046332014-01-19T22:59:35.312-05:002014-01-19T22:59:35.312-05:00Hi Steve,

At the very least, it was different, which of course has a definite appeal to me!

In April 2012, I launched a hike to Wachipauka from the trailhead on Rt. 25C, and integrated what I think was a segment of the old AT corridor. Don't know if you're interested in reading about that trek, but if so, the link is below.
http://1happyhiker.blogspot.com/2012/04/unfinished-business-at-wachipauka-pond.html

You got some remarkable views, and as always, it was a pleasure to view your photos and read your narrative.

John
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-38921418028865880222014-01-18T19:42:03.660-05:002014-01-18T19:42:03.660-05:00Very nice surprise vantage from Mt. In general, Wachipauka Pond (together with the spur trail up Webster Slide) is a lesser known, tucked away favorite. Ben Kimballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11253696012552194569noreply@blogger.com
