I first went to the big cascade in 2007 and my notes indicated it was a rather gnarly bushwhack, but it seemed harder this time, maybe I'm just older and wimpier. Plus, I started late in the day and felt some pressure regarding available daylight. It certainly is wild and beautiful in there.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-51146753790997330452015-07-08T23:31:06.648-04:002015-07-08T23:31:06.648-04:00Thanks for reading, Steve - the history of this sp...Thanks for reading, Steve - the history of this spot is fascinating.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-54108283079826902712015-07-08T22:52:27.198-04:002015-07-08T22:52:27.198-04:00Excellent report Steve about an excellent adventur...Excellent report Steve about an excellent adventure!

Have never done a trek nearly as complete as yours in terms of scouting out the full length of this series of cascades. Closest I've come was about 7 years ago when I did a weird whack up the Gorge Brook Ravine and eventually intersected the Carriage Road between South Peak and Mt. Moosilauke. Along the route, I occasionally popped over to Gorge Brook to take a look at some of the cascades that sounded particularly loud!

At the time of doing my "whacky-whack", I didn't have a full appreciation of the significance of the Pleiades. But, thanks to your writings, and conversations we've had over the years, I have a much deeper appreciation of these magnificent cascades, and really should make a return visit someday for a more focused adventure such as the one you described in this report.
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-59243476583830259742015-07-08T13:22:38.183-04:002015-07-08T13:22:38.183-04:00Great report about a mysterious, wonderful spot, S...Great report about a mysterious, wonderful spot, Steve.
