Honestly, you guys say all the time how beautiful and picturesque countries like my Ireland is when some of you don't realise exactly how gorgeous our own country is, especially in rural areas like this place. Have to give some props to the effort the people who run these places put in though.

Following for more mountain wandering like this!Outcasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03400755239612162157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-46907859869229302332011-09-08T22:00:06.618-04:002011-09-08T22:00:06.618-04:00those are really cool pictures :Dthose are really cool pictures :DDanDudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04460028844810691751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-45726994538239502532011-09-08T16:07:09.099-04:002011-09-08T16:07:09.099-04:00Great pictures, nice place, seems to be a good pla...Great pictures, nice place, seems to be a good place to take a restWotan serverhttp://flashea.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-77503199603669634462011-09-08T14:57:53.689-04:002011-09-08T14:57:53.689-04:00Beautiful and informative pictures. The North Woods Stewardship Center certainly has done a ton of work on the Cohos Trail and other North Country paths this summer. I saw the results of their good work on the Percys this past Thursday.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-23494007519828106892011-09-04T21:15:37.903-04:002011-09-04T21:15:37.903-04:00Steve, what a terrific report! Each time I make a foray up there, I'm reminded of how diverse the State of NH really is, especially considering the small amount of real estate that this State actually occupies! As your report exemplifies, there are numerous short hikes that are immensely rewarding which can be grouped together as a day-trip.

I was delighted to read that you gave credit to the NorthWoods Stewardship Center for their fine work relative to Index Rock. This organization does some commendable work, not only in the Northeast Kingdom of VT, but also some projects in northern NH, such as the one mentioned in your report. Another NH project undertaken by this group was some substantial trail restoration on the Percy Peaks Trail.

And lastly, I know EXACTLY what you mean when you state ". . . in 280 miles of driving through the North Country, we saw nary a moose." My wife Cheri and I have had multiple experiences that had the same result. However, on one of our forays up north, we did see a moose (singular vs. plural) in the vicinity of your last stop, i.e. the Magalloway River Trail.

John1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.com
