I'd have to say this was one of the most rewarding bushwhacks I've done in recent years, between the return to the scenic brook we visited last year, the beautiful woods and the impressive swath of the slide.

Thanks for the link - with your recent trips to the Adirondacks I was going to recommend the Adirondack Explorer to you, but I see you're already onto it. The slides over there are amazing! The most intense slide climbs are documented by "Mudrat" (Kevin MacKenzie), who has some stunning photo albums and videos. Hopefully we can get over there some time for some joint exploration.

SteveSteve Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403760631302934834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3814464431995035927.post-32742156024599706742014-08-31T10:23:22.301-04:002014-08-31T10:23:22.301-04:00Steve, your 'mountain wanderings' certainl...Steve, your 'mountain wanderings' certainly take you to some exceptionally interesting places, many of which have likely never been visited by others. And obviously, this was yet another adventure that falls into that category.

The vastness and extreme steepness of the slide are well illustrated by you photos, especially those presented toward the end of your report.

Further regarding slides created by Tropical Storm Irene, and other similar events, you might be interested in taking a look at the link below which you can cut and paste into your browser. Although it pertains to the Adirondacks, you still might find it to be of interest.

http://www.adirondackexplorer.org/outtake_tag/slide-climbing

And last, but certainly not least, I fondly remember our September 2013 trek to the massive waterfall at the upper end of Little Tunnel Brook Ravine. A memorable adventure for sure!

John
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.com
